Mike Bell takes the win

1st Place - Mike Bell

It was a great night of skating. There were plenty of competitors and lots of crowd considering the last minute re-scheduling of this local DC Nationals event.

It's great to see the young guns coming up the ranks. Mike Bell slayed the whole park on his first run and laid down a big banger for his second which bumped him up into first place ahead of Danny Lepage. Everyone knows Danny is full of tech trickery and he didn't disappoint in his runs, though his first was the stronger of the two runs with more tricks landed.

The 13 and under age division was hard to judge considering there was a strong showing from everyone that entered. Props to Matt D'ettore who scooped up first place in the face of his tweaked ankle he received 10 minutes prior to his first run. That just goes to show the passion some people really have for skateboarding.

A super big thanks goes out to Chris Warner-Smith and AJ Armstrong who helped judge the event with myself. If it wasn't for their commitment to judge and Brent from Evolushun's flexibility this contest would not have happened. Everyone from the SCSA was glad to represent DC shoes and Evolushun and just be a part of this year's local DC Nationals contest.

The Top 5 skaters from the Open Division were also invited to the Regional DC Nationals Contest. I hope there were at least a few from the Soo that were able to make the trip even with the short notice.

See the contest results below or on the DC Nationals website.
